From Script to Screen, the script’s success…

As a script, FOOLS GOLD has already Won 2 contests  (Bare Bones in Muskogee and Independent Shorts Awards) Has been a Finalist in 3 festivals (Hollywood Just4Shorts, The Great American Script Contest, Los Angeles Crime and Horror Festival) has been a semi finalist at the Cal Film Festival and Has taken home Honorable mentions at Palm Springs Film Festival and Cinema Carnival in Pisa, Italy.  See attached Film Freeway references for the script competitions it's entered in this year. 

The story is based on Cherokee Brigadier General Stand Watie and is rooted in Cherokee history, folklore and magic.

Meet the Filmmaker

T.J. Morehouse is an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and a member of the Producers Guild of America.

He is a mutiple award-winning writer, director, and producer with over 20 years’ experience in physical production. He wrote, produced, and directed “Pavarotti of the Plains” a biography of Texas music legend Don Walser, He won Best Screenplay at Tribeca All Access with the script “Plastic Indian”. His Screenplay “FEDERALE!” won several awards and was a finalist in the “Southern California Screenplay Competition,” it was also a finalist for Fade In’s “First 10 Pages” competition as well as a finalist at “Richmond International Film Fest.” He has also placed in the top 1% at Austin Film Festival and Writer’s Conference for his neo- noir script “June in California” which also won several awards including “Los Angeles Crime and Horror Film Festival”, “Hollywood Just for Shorts” and “The Creative World Awards Competition”. In 2021-22 he swept 12 wins on the film festival circuit with the film “The Dark Valley”, one of which was “Red Nation Film Festival” in Hollywood. The “Oscar” of Native American media. His current projects, “Shooting Star” is winning as a screenplay on the festival circuit and “FOOLS GOLD” has won or placed in 8 festivals and counting including Best Pilot Script at Bare Bones film fest in Muskogee and has been shot and is being edited for festivals.
